About the Dalton Nuclear Institute

The Dalton Nuclear Institute is part of The University of Manchester and is the UK’s leading academic centre for nuclear science and engineering.

Our research focuses on solving some of the biggest challenges in nuclear energy – like cleaning up the environment, safely closing old nuclear sites, designing new reactors, improving fuels, and developing fusion power, which could be a huge source of clean energy in the future. We also train the next generation of nuclear experts who will help shape the energy of tomorrow.
