How it works
1. Upload your floorplan
PNG or JPG of your space. Calibrate by entering pixels per meter — one wall is enough.
2. Draw walls, drop APs
Click-drag for walls (drywall, brick, glass, concrete). Place APs from the model preset library.
3. See coverage instantly
Predicted dBm renders live. Drag APs around, hover the heatmap for exact values, find optimal placement before drilling.
Why a new tool?
The free options are flawed
UniFi Design Center is free but locked to Ubiquiti hardware.
Ekahau HeatMapper is Windows-only and survey-based.
NetSpot Free strips out predictive features.
TamoGraph trial is watermarked and time-limited.
The paid ones cost too much
Ekahau AI Pro$5,995/yr
iBwave Design$4,000–8,000
Hamina Wireless$980/yr
Acrylic Wi-Fi Heatmaps€389
For a home lab or small office, none of these make sense. WiFi Heatmap is what you actually need.
FAQ
How accurate are the predictions?
We use the COST-231 multi-wall model — the same approach as commercial tools at the entry tier.
Expect ±6–10 dB for typical homes and small offices. Big metal / concrete structures and 3D
ceiling effects aren't modeled. Treat predictions as guidance and validate with a walking survey
on a phone after install.
Is my floorplan data private?
Yes. Floorplans, walls, and AP placements live entirely in your browser (localStorage). Nothing
uploads to our server. We log only anonymous usage counters for product analytics.
Will it work for my home lab?
Yes — that's the primary use case. Plan UniFi, Aruba Instant On, TP-Link Omada or any vendor's APs
before installation. Works on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. WiFi 6E / 7 (6 GHz) coming soon.
Is it actually free?
The core tool is free, no signup. Free tier supports up to 5 access points per floorplan and
exports a watermarked PNG. Pro lifts the cap and removes the watermark.
Why not Ekahau or Hamina?
For enterprise WLAN with hundreds of APs across multi-floor buildings, those tools are still the
right answer. WiFi Heatmap is for home labs, prosumers, and small offices where €4,000+ price tags
and complex 3D survey workflows are overkill.
