Hello! When I logged into my laptop this morning, the Planner Task App had updated, and all my comments are gone. Every single vital comment I've made about progress on my tasks is gone. Please tell me there is a way to get them back?

I just realized I have the same issue and spent 5 minutes going through different tasks hoping they weren’t all completely gone. You would think that Microsoft would have transferred Comments to Task Chat. This seems like a big miss on the Microsoft side. What a terrible way to handle this update!

You can also go to Outlook directly, find the Group to which those comments are related to on the left hand side, below your mailbox and its subfolders. All comments from all users should be there.

@Maren McLaughlin I finally found the old comments! But you are correct, they didn't transfer to the new "task chat," which is a big fail, imo. In case you haven't found them, I wanted to share that right next to the two tabs that say "task details" and "attachments," another tab will appear, which says "comments." The tab doesn't appear (for me) immediately, though. I have to click on the other two tabs, and THEN the comments tab finally appears. Once you click on the comments tab, all the old comments show up at the bottom. No new comments can be added, though. The other issue I'm having is that all comments used to go to a folder on Teams and into one of my designated Outlook folders. This was helpful as I work remotely and my boss could see my comments without having to dig around Planner (he doesn't use it). It was a way for him to keep up to date on what I'm doing. That's completely gone now, too.

@Rozkowski, Krzysztof Pawel Yes, thank you! The only issue with that is that they aren't grouped together by the specific individual tasks. But definitely an option if trying to hunt down an old comment! Another issue I've found is that now, none of my new "task chat" comments are going into my Outlook/Teams anymore. That's an even bigger problem.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for sharing your feedback.

It’s understandable that this change can feel a bit unsettling, especially when something familiar doesn’t seem to be in the same place anymore. A few others have raised similar concerns about comments not carrying over into task chat, so you’re definitely not alone in noticing this.

If you’d like this feedback to reach the product team, you might consider submitting it through the Feedback Hub. That tends to be a more direct path, as updates like this are typically shaped through product design decisions and user feedback collected through those channels, while moderators here do not have visibility into or influence over those decisions.

Thank you again for sharing your experience and for the continued collaboration.

Lia V - This link to Outlook in the Task Details pane is not showing for me. How can we resolve this?

Hi @Ben K,

Thank you for sharing this update.

If the Outlook link is not appearing in the Task Details pane, it may be related to how the update has been applied in your environment, as the experience can vary slightly depending on the rollout stage or interface.

You may wish to try accessing the comments directly through Outlook by navigating to the Microsoft 365 Group associated with your plan. In some cases, the link may not be visible in the task yet, but the comment thread can still be found there.

If the comments cannot be located from either location, it may be helpful to check with your IT administrator to see if there are any service updates or if further investigation with Microsoft support would be appropriate.

You...
