Peter O'Donovan, the CEO of CarTrawler
Global travel marketplace Expedia Group has agreed a deal to buy Dublin-based tech firm CarTrawler for an undisclosed sum.
Founded and headquartered in Dublin, CarTrawler connects more than 550 car rental suppliers and over 500 mobility providers with more than 300 leading travel brands worldwide, including over 70 airlines.
Its clients include Ryanair, American Airlines, Air France-KLM, Uber, EasyJet, eDreams, American Express, Qantas, Jet2 and Virgin Australia.
The company has significantly expanded its global footprint driven by demand for its sysems, which it said reflectedg the strength and scalability of its offering across the global travel ecosystem.
The dealn, which remains subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026.
Peter O'Donovan, the chief executive of CarTrawler, said the company's acquisition by Expedia Group is a testament to the strength of its technology, the drive of its people, its track record of innovation and its accelerating commercial momentum.
"This exciting combination allows us to advance our mission as part of travel's best and most complete B2B engine, unlocking new opportunities for innovation and growth," he added.
Alfonso Paredes, President B2B & Chief Commercial Officer at Expedia Group, said the CarTrawler acquisition is another huge, exciting step towards the company's ambition of building the most complete B2B travel platform.
"Last year, Expedia Group B2B set out a bold vision to expand our APIs beyond lodging. Acquiring Tiqets helped us solve for activities at scale," he said.
"Adding CarTrawler now extends that same strategy into car rentals, ground transport and Insurtech. CarTrawler’s focus and differentiated expertise in these areas complements our strengths in B2B scale and technology, enabling us to massively amplify our joint value proposition to partners, suppliers, and travellers," he added.
