“Beginnings are hard. But that’s something we are already used to.”
Welcome to my Substack. Here I am starting something new… again. This time with a with a lot more experience under my belt.
Who I am
I've built and pivoted a couple of times, all while bootstrapping. Now? Third time’s the charm. My founder journey taught me what I didn’t know and is still teaching me what I still don’t know, which turns out to be a long list.
Before any of that, I spent years in finance and M&A in the Bay Area and Toronto, where I learned in-depth financial due diligence, how companies change hands, and absolutely nothing about how they’re actually built. So now, I’m a builder.
Why I’m Writing Here
There's no shortage of people writing about entrepreneurship. Most of them do it from a privileged position, or the comfortable side of an exit. That's fine. It's just not what I'm interested in writing.
I’m writing as I am going through things. Unfiltered. Raw
Who is this for?
If you're a founder, an operator, someone in finance trying to figure out the operator side, someone thinking about jumping, or someone who already jumped and is now quietly reconsidering all their life choices, you're who I'm writing for. If you're allergic to LinkedIn-style "growth mindset" content and tired of advice that only makes sense in hindsight, even better.
I want this to be an honest space. The kind where I can write about a hire that didn't work out without it becoming a Twitter thread. Where the people who show up in the comments are doing the work, not consulting about it.
I'd rather have a hundred readers who are reading than a hundred thousand who are scrolling.
How often will you hear from me?
Every other week. Unless something goes south and need to say it right away.
Thanks for reading,
Andres
