For Residents of Jurisdictions with Age Verification Laws

Many jurisdictions have passed or considering laws like this California law.

Part of this bill states: "A developer shall request a signal [of
age verification] with respect to a particular user from an operating
system provider or a covered application store when the application is
downloaded and launched."

It is entirely possible that any software I have written and that
you download from this site will require me, the developer, to request
such a signal. Furthermore, if it does not, I (as the developer) am
at risk of fairly severe penalties. (Note that the law says
the developer has to request an age-bracket signal, not
the application.)

Therefore, if you live in a jurisdiction with age-verification laws that
require applications to request age-bracket signals,
you may not download or use software from this web site. Although
this may appear to contradict the GNU General Public License, laws always
override license agreements and since my software is or might be illegal
in those jurisdictions, the prohibition on downloading or using it supersedes
the GPL.
