Fwupd 2.1.4 Brings Many Fixes For Bugs Spotted By Anthrophic's Mythos, Firmware Update Support For Intel Arc Pro B65/B70

Fresh off the funding round from HP, Fwupd 2.1.4 was christened today as the newest stable update to this open-source firmware updating solution for Linux systems.

Fwupd 2.1.4 brings support for firmware updates on a number of new hardware devices, including the Arc Pro B65 and Arc Pro B70 graphics cards. Plus Lenovo docks in the provisioned mode now work as do other hardware devices:

- Egis MoC devices with PID 9201

- Intel Arc Pro B65 and Arc Pro B70 (#10389)

- Lenovo dock devices in 'provisioned' mode

- Pixart TP devices with PID 1343

- Several GigaDevice and Puya SPI chips

There are also many bug fixes in Fwupd 2.1.4 along with support for NixOS in the quick start script, support for the Compal BIOS version format, and other enhancements.

Fwupd lead developer Richard Hughes commented that the many fixes in this release are a result of Anthropic's Mythos scanning the Fwupd codebase for security vulnerabilities. Mythos ended up finding 12 security bugs but two were fixed as not a bug, eight were considered "low" vulnerabilities, and two were ranked "moderate". Hughes says he was surprised over Myhtos finding so many issues in the codebase.
