I think looping isn't the problem though, looping with nothing that can say stop is. a loop that can push back on the agent is fine. one where it just agrees with itself every lap and bills you for the consensus isn't.

And yeah the term doesn't make any sense.

Most productivity advice is just someone's personal workaround<br>packaged as universal truth.

The loop thing works for maybe 12 people on earth.

Glad someone is saying it. I'm not even sure why loops are being so hyped up. Maybe if you have infinite tokens they start to make sense? Encourages more token spend I guess.

This sounds like that HTML NEW MARKDOWN HURR DURR

Then two days later everyone forgot

Just read it today and I couldn’t see a way for me to use it where it’s super important I 100% do it and if I don’t oh no I’m lagging behind

tbh looping agents just adds a ton of surface area for no real benefit most of the time.

You don’t understand, we have to get a keyword every two weeks, otherwise the bubble will pop - gotta keep burning them tokens 🔥

yeah i love how the guy that built openclaw is telling me this but i cant talk to openclaw for more than 5mins without feeling like im speaking to a brick wall with zero autonomy or agency.

disagree. looping has a place when your agent needs context from past steps. the problem isn't the term — it's cargo culting every new pattern without understanding why.

most people need a stop button before they need a loop

Is this what they mean by looping?

Most simple features don't need agent loops at all, people are massively over allocating to hype instead of just using a strong prompt + tools.

I don't think anyone should be running looped agents. I don't see how that can be useful. I'm of the opinion you should watch the output of the agent the entire time. I've caught it and stopped it from doing dumb shit countless times.

What most people do not understand that such companies make money from you burning tokens. Of course they will promote this. But maybe the solution is to make more accurate models. I can even imagine some of them are nerfed.
