Hearing developers talk about coding agents is a wild experience. Some say that agents write terrible code and shouldn’t be used at all, while others are amazed by agents’ capabilities and how much it increases their productivity.<br>How can the same product lead to such wildly different takes? I was puzzled by this, until I read this comment on Hacker News:<br>AI is only as good as the person using it, that’s why we have such vast range of what people “claim” AI can do and why everyone has way different opinions of it.

So if you are part of the “coding agents bad” crew, the issue may not be the coding agents themselves. In that case, I recommend picking a coding agent (like Claude Code), learning the basics of how to use it, and then trying it on a few projects. You might be surprised by what you’ll accomplish.
