Claude Fable 5 Free Access Window: June 9-22 on Paid Plans | Claude 5Anthropic is giving its paying subscribers two weeks with its most powerful public model at no extra cost. Claude Fable 5 is included free on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans from June 9 through June 22, 2026. Starting June 23 , using the model requires usage credits.
How the Window Works
The structure is simple: if you are on any paid Claude plan - Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise - Fable 5 is available inside your existing subscription for the launch fortnight. After June 22, the model moves to a credits-based system rather than being bundled into flat-rate plans.
For API users, the model is fully available on the Claude API from day one at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens . It is also generally available on Amazon Bedrock and GitHub Copilot as of June 9.
Why a Free Window?
Two weeks of free access serves an obvious purpose: it lets the market verify Anthropic's claims firsthand before anyone pays per-token prices that are double Opus 4.8's $5/$25. The claims are substantial:
80.3% on SWE-Bench Pro , roughly 11 points ahead of the field (Opus 4.8 at 69.2%, GPT-5.5 at 58.6%, Gemini 3.1 Pro at 54.2%).
The top frontier-model score on Cognition's FrontierCode eval.
Long-context support in the millions of tokens, with the largest capability gains on long and complex tasks.
Early testers suggest the trial period will be persuasive. Stripe reported a 50-million-line Ruby codebase migration done in one day versus over two months for a team. Lyzr CTO Fabian Hedin said, "Apps that took a hundred prompts a year ago, it now one-shots."
The Credits Shift
The move to usage credits after June 22 reflects the economics of Mythos-class inference. Fable 5 is the same underlying model as the restricted Claude Mythos 5, made safe for general use, and Anthropic prices it at less than half the cost of Claude Mythos Preview. Bundling unlimited access into flat subscriptions indefinitely was never the plan; the free window is a sampling period, not a precedent.
What Subscribers Should Do Now
The practical advice for plan holders is to use the window deliberately: point Fable 5 at the long, complex tasks where its advantage is documented - large migrations, multi-step agentic projects, long problem-solving sessions - and measure the results before June 23, when every token starts counting.
