what is this
This software allows you to fly through the pages of the Whole Earth Magazine, an old journal dedicated to collecting and spreading awareness of “soft tech”, or tech that augments human life instead of subsuming it. The pages are spread through 3D space based on their embeddings, which are vectors that show how deep learning models understand the text in these pages.
why?
I like software for exploring knowledge, and I’m a big fan of the early soft/humane tech movement.
who made this?
My name is Igor. You can find me here.
alone?
No. This project is based on the incredible efforts of The Whole Earth Index as well as Lucas Gelfond’s search-based archive.
A special thanks to Lucas for generously sharing the base data for this visualization.
