Please consider buying my other games to support my work!
If you enjoyed this Manifesto, some others from the 2026 Jam touch on similar themes! I am still reading through them but I recommend:
SHUT UP ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU HATE MAKING GAMES
ARTISANAL GRUEL
gameplay never mattered
I also recommend checking out droqen's beautiful The End of Gameplay, and Nathalie Lawhead's individualism in the dead-internet age.

Bad Piggy13 hours ago(+3)(-1)
Absolutely hilarious read. Agree with pretty much all of it.
That said, I sorta disagree with point 4
( I can't blender so I won't be making a 3D asset flip game to explain my point )
I most definitely agree that you really should do whatever the fuck you like, but I don't think it also necessitates ignoring genuinely good design advice imo
Then again, seeing as though no one will buy my game, I may as well not add coyote time to my platformer and allow it to be a little jank and be slightly unresponsive because why the frik not kek.

felurx5 hours ago(+1)
I'm not sure if the author agrees but I think the point is that you don't have to. If you enjoy doing things that are considered "good design" (whatever that means (to you) (this sounds rude but isn't intended to sound rude)), by all means do them, because do whatever the heck you want. But you shouldn't feel like you have to, because do whatever the heck you want to.
