The yen has decisively broken through ¥160 to the dollar, approaching levels not seen in 40 years and raising doubts about well-established views on the currency.<br>Expectations were that the weakening trend had to reverse. Now investors and analysts are not so sure, with some wondering whether there is really much at all holding the yen up.

Some analysts are starting to argue that Japan doesn’t have the underlying economic strength to drive enough demand for the currency.
