Welcome to Doing Different. Navigating the complexities of life, whether it involves empty nesting, estrangement, divorce, mental illness, or addictions, can be challenging and deeply personal. Each of these experiences brings its own set of emotions and requires understanding and compassion. Empty nesting, for example, can lead to feelings of loss or freedom as children leave home, while estrangement and divorce might cause heartache and a reevaluation of personal relationships. Mental illness and addictions, on the other hand, demand patience, support, and sometimes professional help. Balancing hobbies, aging, and caregiving can offer a sense of purpose and fulfillment, even in the face of life's challenges. For many, Christianity and prayer provide solace, guiding individuals through difficult times and helping them set and achieve personal goals. Regardless of the circumstance, the journey is unique to each person, and it's crucial to foster an environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported. Remember, it's okay to seek help and lean on communities that offer understanding and encouragement. My platform was created for women who are learning to doing different. My conversations will include issues that involve menopause, being an empty nester, widow, caregiver, discrimination, PTSD, health issues, chronic pain, mental illness, weight gain, anxiety, or depression and faith-based help. At times home remedies and herbal teas will be discussed for self care. My goal is to invite authors, podcasters, and bloggers who are also Doing Different in their journey.

Through honest conversations, deep spiritual formation work and leading groups of empty-nest women each year, she discovered she wasn't alone.
Her journey led her to write OPEN NEST, a Bible study designed to help women explore identitty, faith and community in midlife. Her heart is to remind women that their identity is rooted in Christ, NOT in roles that shift with seasons.
Debby is Texas born, but a traveler at heart: having lived in New Jersey, London, Mombasa and Kiev. On the theory that everyone has a superpower, hers might be making order out of chaos. She will pick beaches over mountains, tulips over daisies, musicals over concerts, dark over milk (chocolate), Tex-Mex over Thai, sunsets over sunrises and walking with a friend over any other form of exercise.
Debby has three adult children and one-daughter-in-law and lives in Dallas, TX with her husband.
