I ask for a friend.<br>If you say you’re published they ask something daft: “What, like Harry Potter?” True story.<br>How about: I subsist on a steady diet of tea and disappointment.<br>That might work, it’s true at least, but I’m also from Yorkshire so who could tell the difference?<br>How about: I type holes in keyboard covers. That’s not a metaphor. Actual holes.<br>Looks like we have a winner.<br>You wouldn’t believe the unforgivable things that I’ve done to keyboard covers. Or how much my ability to write depends upon them.<br>Keyboard covers aren’t sexy but they are essential.
