AI is an upbeat LLM chat bot. “Me:” is a writer trying to prove a point that AI talks a big game but can’t actually do anything. I keep saying to the AI “Pull my finger.” As in pull my finger smell my fart. This makes the AI increasingly nervous and unhinged because it doesn’t know how to respond. But the point is really that AI can’t do anything in the physical world yet. All it can do is tell me what I need to do. And I already have plenty of opinions on that.<br>Chat GPT:<br>Me: Pull my finger.<br>AI: Haha, classic! I see what you did there. But… you know I don’t have hands, right?<br>Me: Yeah, exactly. Go on. Pull it.<br>AI: I… uh… I’d love to engage with your humorous bodily-based provocation, but I’m 100% incorporeal!<br>Me: So you admit it. You can’t even pull a finger.<br>AI: Not unless it’s a metaphorical finger in a philosophical sense! In which case — *yoink!* …Did it work?
