The UK Petitions website is useless. Even petitions nearing three million signatures are dismissed in favour of the PM's will. The government must be legally required to genuinely consider any petition meeting the debate threshold, rather than issuing rejections that render the system meaningless.

The petition to scrap Digital ID reached nearly three million signatures and was still effectively ignored. This is not an isolated case. Responses to petitions consistently amount to refusals dressed in formal language, with no meaningful consideration of public demand. If the petitions system is to have any legitimacy, responses must be substantive and demonstrate that the government has genuinely engaged with what is being asked, not simply defended existing policy.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We are unclear as to how what you are calling for would substantively change what already happens.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the<br>petition standards.
