There are many factors that make this a great song, firstly the lyrics are great, under the premise that what makes great lyrics are that if you read them without listening to them you would find it worthwhile to just read.<br>The Lyrics<br>I’d never been so scorned<br>To find your kindness didn’t last<br>Beyond a fry-up and my spit upon your sheets

Reading it you might notice this puts together a number of well known genres of rock song, only flipped because of being from the viewpoint of a woman.<br>The first is the here comes my girl song, or here comes my ex-girl, either way, but here the girl coming is not the object being sung about but the person singing about themselves.<br>The second is here I come songs, generally sung by a man about how they are coming and they are super cool.<br>The third is the “my woman treated me wrong so I killed her” songs, which, woo there sure are a lot of popular ones on that subject! Although there are also a lot of my man done me wrong songs so I killed him.<br>So here comes the Killer, she is a bit psychotic, which just makes her more cool and enticing. She was done wrong by her man not in the old fashioned way of he ran out and shagged some other woman without a by your leave or anything but rather he got what he wanted sexually and then neglected her. Rude. You know what guys are like, apt to get killed is what I mean.<br>The Killer, when she kills now has to go on the run, just like men used to when they were bad. She’s wanted across several county lines, which in a British context is more like being wanted across several states.<br>Normally when the men sing about their girl coming down the street they are really attractive and sweet and nice and they make the men feel good, or in some cases they are coming down the street with some other guy they have left the singer for in which case they are still attractive and nice but their taste in men is shockingly questionable.<br>We don’t know anything about The Killer’s taste in men, other than he is something of a lout who does not appreciate good sex and is going to suffer like all fools must, but she’s definitely attractive enough to get a television appearance out of her crime spree — so good on her is what I say!<br>As noted the lyrics are great for this song, but it is all the references and connections to other songs of the past that brings this song out of just being a great song into the ranks of the greatest Rock and Roll songs of all time. That is a bold statement I know, and if you can’t hear it I think you should at least consider if you can’t hear outside the music that informed your youth.<br>At any rate, it is a great song, released July 17, 2025.
