According to China STAR Market Daily, sources familiar with the matter said Huawei’s Mate 90 series, expected to launch this autumn, is planned to feature a new Kirin chipset based on the company’s Tao (τ) Law.
Huawei introduced Tao (τ) Law in May this year as a new guiding principle for semiconductor development. The framework is centered on continuously reducing the system time constant (τ) by employing technologies such as Logic Folding to minimize on-chip signal propagation delays, boost transistor density, and drive the ongoing advancement of semiconductors and electronic systems. The Kirin 2026 chipset, scheduled to debut in autumn 2026, is said to be the first to implement Logic Folding technology, delivering improved performance.
According to data published in Huawei’s research paper, the Kirin 2026 adopts dual-layer Logic Folding, which increases transistor density from 155 million transistors per square millimeter (155 MTr/mm²) to 238 million transistors per square millimeter (238 MTr/mm²), a gain of around 53.5% over the 2025 Kirin 9030 Pro baseline.
