Porting from Delphi to JS, will unalive your blog from Delphi RSS Sites.
Embarcadero is fearful when Delphi's rotten web implementations frustrate developers and developers are easily porting to free JS tools. The Delphi Moat has greatly shrunk.

Delphi as Secret Weapon

Embarcadero is on a marketing spree to convince developers Delphi and C++ Builder is a “secret weapon”, and winning developers use Delphi to gain competitive advantages.
One wonders what kind of advantages are there, except buy-this, buy-that and end up in dozens of useless subscriptions?
Thanks for reading Delphi Nightmares Substack! Delphi to JS.

The latest victim is Dr. Holger’s site. He posts on porting Delphi TMS to NextJS, titled “Four Hours to Migrate a 6-Year-Old Delphi Multi-Tier App2”.
Dr. Holger describes porting from Delphi + TMS Web + TMS XData + Firebird.

Their offering, TMS Web, is a custom Pas to JS parser solution.
Going to host on Linux? Haha. You need to buy Delphi Enterprise, then cross-compile to Linux. Need to use MySQL where MySQL exists on another server? Good luck with the .so files and cross-platform run-time files compatibility.
Dr. Holgar describes the actions needed to port this project to NextJS.
We are, genuinely, at a new place. For the first time, a developer’s experience and taste can be applied at the speed of thought instead of the speed of typing. The bottleneck moved from “how fast can I write it” to “how well can I direct and judge it.” That’s not a threat to good engineers. That’s the best day good engineers have ever had.
I’m more excited about building software than I’ve been in years. Four hours for a month of work will do that to you.

Delphi is single-EXE file code-generation for Windows. For Linux, you need to install many pre-requisites3, you start wondering if your site has hidden vulnerabilities. Are there any known CVEs against Delphi Linux?
Thanks for reading Delphi Nightmares Substack! This post is public so feel free to share it.

Shunned

Your author briefly saw about Delphi to Next.JS on BeginEnd, Delphi Feeds… and it disappeared.
The greatness of Delphi is to use is it as a secret weapon to gain competitive advantage.

Delphi + Lua = Super-powered App…?

Delphi + Python = Super-duper App?

More like:

Delphi Dead-weight,
Rewrite Delphi object-pascal to another language.

Embarcadero calls you for license compliance.
Cannot activate Delphi (after not renewing subscription).

Social media harassment.
Slander, libel, defamation.

Loss of reputation, loss of opportunity.

DelphiFeeds, BeginEnd is becoming an echo chamber as more blogs are removed.

AI can port Delphi to JS, Delphi to Dart/Flutter, Delphi to Go, and move to production environment, without Delphi.

Bonus: It seems now, there is gatekeeping. Your author tried adding this blog to BeginEnd, DelphiFeeds and was denied.
1Embarcadero RAD Studio, Delphi, & C++Builder Blogs – Blazing Fast Cross-Platform App Development Software for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android
