What is DAAD Ready?
DAAD Ready is a package that contains DAAD, the evolution of other tools widely used in the 80s and 90s to create text adventures for 8 bit computers: PAWS and The Quill. Als includes a set<br>of tools that allow creating 8 bit text adventures using DAAD without needing to handle a lot of technical details.
DAAD Ready allows authors to create games in English and Spanish, and also with some limitations in French, Portuguese and German. Using it for other languages -specially those using alphabets based on the Roman alphabet- is possible, just ask me.
Download
DAAD Ready is a tool for Windows, you can download it here:Download
Some people report that works fine with Wine though, so if you use MacOS or Linux, you might want to try that.
Tutorials, Editors & Help
DAAD Ready Manual
DAAD Ready Multimedia Manual(read the main manual first)
There is a tutorial for beginners.
You can also use any text editor you want to edit DSF (DAAD Source file). VSCode has a extension for Syntax Highlight made by Chris Ainsley. Just look for DAAD in the extension manager.
There is an official Telegram group for DAAD-Ready support (https://t.me/daadready), with sub-groups for English and Spanish languages.
Repository
Although DAAD Ready is not exactly a single project but rather a bundle of many, it does have a repository where you can sometimes find the latest improvements (beyond the latest release). However, it is NOT RECOMMENDED to use it, since it is usually in active development and therefore likely to contain unknown —or even known— bugs.
