Spotify has introduced a new AI voice chat feature that lets users speak commands directly to the app instead of typing or tapping through menus. You can ask it to play music, add tracks to a playlist, or get answers to general questions, all through voice, without leaving the app or typing anything.
The feature works as a real-time conversational tool rather than a simple voice search. Based on Spotify's own demo, you can ask for an artist's mix, check how many times a song has been played, or ask numerous other types of questions. Just tap the new "Talk to Spotify" field on the home tab to initiate the AI assistant.

For now, this is limited in scope. The feature is only available to Premium subscribers, and only in the US, Sweden, and Ireland. There's no word yet on when, or if, it'll expand to Free tier users or additional markets.
Spotify continues to push more AI features into its products. Although this one might frustrate users less than AI-generated music that the company has starkly defended lately. In between these AI features, Spotify also pushes some general improvements to the platform, like the ability to pin up to 20 items to the top of Your Library, which most users welcomed.
We still haven’t tested it, so it will be interesting to see how tight Spotify’s guardrails are. If any of our readers from the US, Sweden, or Ireland have already received the new AI voice chat, we’d appreciate it if you could ask some generic question, like “what’s the meaning of life,” and let us know about its answer in the comments.
