Dark & Light
Automatic via prefers-color-scheme, manually overridable. Both modes are first-class, no afterthought.
Image Paste
⌘V with image or drag-drop → lands in /assets/, Markdown is inserted automatically. PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, SVG.
100% Offline
No account. No cloud. No telemetry. Your files stay on your disk. Plain .md — no proprietary format.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
Is Farium free?
Yes. Farium is 100% free. No trial period, no subscription, no premium tier. Download the .dmg and use it forever.
Does Farium work offline?
Completely. Farium never connects to the internet. There is no account, no cloud sync, no telemetry, and no analytics. Your files stay on your disk.
Does Farium work on Intel Macs?
Not yet. Farium 1.3 is built for Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4) only. An Intel build is on the roadmap.
How is Farium different from Obsidian, iA Writer, or Typora?
Farium is a focused, native macOS editor with a clean three-column layout and a quiet System 7 aesthetic. Unlike Obsidian it has no plugin ecosystem — it just works. Unlike iA Writer and Typora it is completely free and collects no data whatsoever.
What file format does Farium use?
Plain .md files. No proprietary format, no database. You can open your notes in any other editor, back them up with any tool, and switch away from Farium anytime without conversion.
Can I export to PDF or HTML?
Yes. Farium exports to PDF via the native macOS print dialog, to standalone HTML with inline CSS (no external dependencies), and can copy formatted content as rich text for pasting into Mail, Pages, or Word.
Does Farium work on Apple Silicon?
Yes. Farium 1.3 is built natively for Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4). macOS 11 Big Sur or newer is required.
