Ubuntu 26.04 LTS vs. Windows 11 vs. CachyOS Performance On A $5399 Laptop

Of 99 benchmarks ran in total between these three operating systems on the Razer Blade 18 RZ09-0582, CachyOS picked up the most first place finishes with 51% of the time being in the lead. Windows 11 meanwhile was in first 38% of the time and then Ubuntu 26.04 LTS was in the lead just 10% of the time.

Windows 11 was the slowest performance in half of the benchmarks followed by Ubuntu 26.04 LTS in last 43% of the time.

On a geo mean basis, Microsoft Windows 11 just edged past Ubuntu 26.04 LTS on this Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus + NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 laptop from Razer. Meanwhile CachyOS battled the two to secure a narrow victory on a geo mean basis. Though for most laptop users, the geo mean isn't too important but rather digging into the particular applications/workloads most relevant to your computing needs.

In any event that's a look at how Windows vs. Linux is performing on the new Razer Blade 18 for what's going through Ubuntu Linux certification as their first laptop to do so. Both Ubuntu 26.04 LTS and CachyOS were running well out-of-the-box on this laptop catering both to high-end gaming as well as AI/developer needs.
