What is FlashFilter? FlashFilter is a screen filter that primarily aims to remove flashing from a real time video stream. It works across games, video, and the whole web, without a dark overlay or a colour tint over your display.<br>Who is FlashFilter for? It is built for people with photosensitive epilepsy or a sensitivity to strobing and flashing light, and for anyone who gets migraines or discomfort from harsh on-screen flashes. If flashing content on a screen is a problem for you, FlashFilter is meant to help.<br>How does the epilepsy screen filter work? FlashFilter runs as a GPU compositing layer between your desktop and your display. It analyses every frame for flashing and depending on your preferences will dampen or remove it real time.<br>Does the photosensitive flash filter work in games and video? Yes. FlashFilter filters everything on your screen - games, streaming and local video, browsers, and any other application - because it works on the final composited image rather than hooking into individual apps.<br>Which operating systems does FlashFilter support? FlashFilter runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, using each system's native GPU graphics stack (DirectX 12, Metal, and Vulkan respectively). Linux support is Wayland only and varies depending on the compositor, the constraint on the compositor is that it must be able to run nested (have a Wayland backend for output which uses zwp_linux_dmabuf_v1).<br>Will it slow down my computer? Practically no. Filtering runs on your GPU and completes in a fraction of a frame, so it will not lag games or significantly drain battery anymore than any other background process. That being said, we provide a few different algorithms configuration options which generally trade off performance and filtering quality (level of artifacting and resolution).<br>Is my screen data private? Yes. All filtering happens locally on your own computer. What is on your screen never leaves your machine, and FlashFilter does not track how you use it.<br>Is FlashFilter a medical device? No. FlashFilter is not a medical device and is not a substitute for medical advice. It reduces flashing that may trigger symptoms but cannot guarantee that all of it is removed.
