When I joined VoidZero back in January I prepared a list of 30 DevX paper cuts across the JavaScript tooling stack. It was everything that slowed me down while I was coding, and I was determined to fix every one of them.

At around the same time, a friend asked why I still had Sublime Text installed next to my IDE. It used to be my main text editor and I told him I still enjoyed the convenience of opening and editing a single file quickly. However, he was right to question it. I no longer needed Sublime Text and got rid of it.

A few months later I stopped writing code by hand. Consequently, I didn’t end up fixing a single paper cut. These little issues used to annoy me to no end, and now I barely remember a single one of them - a class of problems I no longer experience - and one I focused much of my career on solving.

I deleted the todo list, and I’m about to delete VS Code. IDEs are done, and they are not coming back.
