Valve give Steam Wishlist and Steam Gifts a major needed upgrade

Valve just upgraded the Steam Wishlist and Steam Gifts system - to bring new features and they sounds like truly major upgrades. This is part of why so many people stick with Steam - Valve are constantly rethinking parts of the store to make them better.

For Steam Wishlists, Valve added custom categories that you can sort games into. So if you want you can make a birthday list, or a list for someone else, and you can quickly add games to specific lists from Steam store pages. You can even share links to specific categories of your wishlist to send to other people - like my own birthday list (hint hint).

Each game in the list also has a micro-trailer appear when you hover over them like other parts of Steam. On top of that Valve also now highlight when a game on your wishlist has a demo available too.

As for Steam Gifting, it's been made a whole lot easier. And makes a lot more sense with wishlist links - as guests don't need to even have a Steam account to buy you games now. It was previously limited to digital gift cards and hardware. That's probably my favourite recent Steam change!

People don't even need to know your Steam account, they can gift direct to an email now too.

On top of that, Valve finally made cross-region gifting work better. Steam will actually now allow it, and calculate the price for you properly - so you can gift anything anywhere now pretty much.
