Believe it or not, the Sega Dreamcast is finally getting a new game release in the year of our lord 2026.
The Sega Dreamcast may not have been as popular as its peers, the Xbox, GameCube, and PlayStation 2, but with the benefit of hindsight, it was definitely a platform ahead of its own time.
First released in 1998 and discontinued only three years later, the Dreamcast stopped receiving new game releases in 2002, with the final game launched on the platform being NHL 2K2 in North America, 24 years ago.

Now in 2026, anyone still holding onto their Dreamcast can look forward to a brand new release hitting the platform in the near future.
Advert

White Creek by publisher Pixelheart has been announced for the Sega Dreamcast, with it also launching on Steam, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.
Why the Dreamcast, you ask? Well, aside from Pixelheart obviously being a big fan of the console, White Creek is built from the ground up to function exactly like a game released in 1999.
If you look at some of the visuals, the game resembles titles like Silent Hill, Mizzurna Falls, and Clock Tower.
Read More: 18 years later, Gears of War 2 finally comes to PC as a free download

White Creek is a real game you can play on an actual Sega Dreamcast
“White Creek isn’t a game inspired by the Dreamcast. It’s a game designed for it, from day one,” reads a message from Pixelheart on White Creek’s Kickstarter page.
The game is designed to fit the console’s hardware, with 3D environments, cinematic cameras, and visual effects which rival some of the biggest productions of that era.
In White Creek, you play as exorcist Alicia Morelli, who explores a cursed town to unearth its buried traumas, while deciding whether to kill the possessed or save their souls.
The game actively gives you this choice to make, where you can kill enemies with a variety of different weapons, or risk performing an exorcism to adopt a more pacifist approach.
These choices will lead to different outcomes further down the road, giving you reasons to replay the game, making new choices.
You have access to several different weapons, as well as Alicia’s psychic powers, which offer you new opportunities to avoid being attacked by enemies. These abilities allow you to tap into her spiritual side, where you can detect anomalies and find members of the possessed.
Alicia can also record them using her mobile phone, which is also a crucial tool used for exploration, investigation, and puzzle-solving.
White Creek isn’t out yet, nor does it have a release date. The game is due to hit Kickstarter first, where you’ll be able to pledge some money to help fund the game so it can finish development.
It's also currently unknown how distribution for the Dreamcast version will work. While the current-gen versions will likely just be a digital copy, the Dreamcast version could be released as either a digital ROM or shipped out as a physical disc.
You can follow the project by heading over to its official Kickstarter page.
