Like thispersondoesnotexist.com, 100 Deep Breaths stages the uncanny encounter of watching AI-generated humans breathe. The minimal act of inhalation and exhalation unsettles our sense of the real.

Created by creative technologist Tina Tarighian, the project examines the threshold where simulation becomes visceral. One hundred video studies were generated with Google's Veo model.

Despite giving no descriptive prompts about identity or appearance, some interesting patterns emerged in the model's output:

84% appeared white

67% appeared as women

24% appeared shirtless
