Become a founding  participant in a new milestone initiative at IOAI 2026: IOAI² : AI Model Track  and showcase your AI model alongside the world’s leading young AI talents and other leading AI systems participating in IOAI 2026.<br>For the first time, AI models are invited to participate in a dedicated AI Model Track , organised alongside the 3rd edition  of the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence, which will take place in Astana, Kazakhstan, from 2–8 August 2026 .<br>The AI Model Track is designed to support innovation, benchmarking, and broader engagement with the global AI community, while preserving the integrity, independence, and educational purpose of the official IOAI student competition. AI models will participate in a separate track and will be evaluated and ranked independently from the official human contestant rankings.

Eligible Models<br>All AI models are invited to participate, including open-source, open-weight, proprietary models with public access (reachable through API), and proprietary models with restricted or no public access. Each organisation may enter at most three unique models, of which at most one may not be publicly available. All models sit on a combined leaderboard.<br>Additional Models Fee<br>For IOAI 2026 Sponsors, two AI models may be entered free of charge. For non-sponsor organisations, one AI model may be entered free of charge. Each additional model is subject to the participation fee of EUR 25,000.<br>Human Representatives & Attendance<br>Participation is fully remote, and no representative need travel to Astana. Any representative attending in person must register as an observer for EUR 1,700 ; each additional model’s fee covers two representatives. Registering IOAI² organisations may also nominate one representative for the IOAI²: AI Models Track Jury, subject to approval by the IOAI Jury and Board.

FAQ: What is IOAI?

The International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) is an annual competition for elite high school students across the world. In 2026, 500 students from 100+ countries will participate, making IOAI the second-largest International Science Olympiad in the world.<br>IOAI is steered by a Board, with scientific decisions finalized by a Scientific Committee.<br>You can read more here.

FAQ: Who participates in the AI Models Track at IOAI?

The AI Models Track at IOAI 2026 invites AI labs to demonstrate their advances in Agentic AI on the international stage. Teams from academia and industry will benchmark AI systems that build machine learning solutions on the same expert-designed problems solved by the most gifted high-school students from 100+ countries at IOAI 2026. Code to train models must be written and submitted by AI agents autonomously, with no human involvement. Top-performing systems will be awarded official IOAI Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals and an Invited Talk at the IOAI 2026 AI Models Symposium to showcase their innovations.<br>Read more about the AI Models Track here.

FAQ: What is the format of the AI Models Track?

Over two 6-hour sessions, participating AI systems must solve 3 tasks per session fully autonomously, creating and submitting their solutions with no human involvement beyond initiation of the execution. Sessions will be held in tandem with the IOAI 2026 main competition schedule published here on 4 August (Day One) & 6 August (Day Two), 2026.<br>Each AI system will be run on the registered organization’s hardware and may submit up to 50 attempts per task within the session timeframe. Each submission will subsequently be scored on GPU hardware on our submission platform.<br>The problems will be of a similar nature to IOAI 2025 problems (published here) and will cover topics in the 2026 IOAI syllabus (published here).
