[UPDATED] 🧴No More 100ml Bottles! These European Airports now allow up to 2 Litres of liquids in Hand Luggage

The days of squeezing your shampoo into tiny 100ml bottles are slowly coming to an end!

Many airports across Europe are now introducing new high-tech 3D scanners (C3/CT) that allow passengers to bring up to 2 litres of liquids in their hand luggage and keep electronics and liquids inside their bags during security checks.

This major change makes security screening faster, smoother, and far less stressful for travellers and it’s already available in a growing number of airports across the continent.

European Airports where the 2 Litre Rule already applies

Below is a list of airports that have officially confirmed the new 2-litre liquid allowance. If you’re flying from (or between) these airports, you can finally say goodbye to the 100ml limit!

🇦🇹 Austria:

Vienna (VIE) – Full implementation.

🇨🇿 Czech Republic:

Prague (PRG – Terminal 2) – Full implementation.

🇩🇰 Denmark:

Billund (BLL) – Full implementation.

🇩🇪 Germany:

Frankfurt (FRA) – In Terminal 1, several checkpoints already have next-generation scanners; some lanes allow 2L, but full implementation is still in progress. In Terminal 3, implementation is complete.

Munich (MUC) – Available in Terminal 1, module D, on level 5, at the Terminal 1 pier (Non-Schengen) and in the central security area of Terminal 2.

Berlin (BER) – Available in areas 1 and 5 of Terminal 1 and in the security area of Terminal 2.

Nuremberg (NUE) – Full implementation.

Cologne (CGN) – Full implementation.

🇮🇪 Ireland:

Dublin (DUB) – Full implementation.

🇮🇹 Italy:

Rome Fiumicino (FCO) – Full implementation.

Milan Bergamo (BGY) – Full implementation.

Milan Linate (LIN) – Full implementation.

Milan Malpensa (MXP) – Only Terminal 1 applies the 2L rule.

Bologna (BLQ) – Full implementation.

Turin (TRN) – 2L only in Fast Track, for now.

🇱🇹 Lithuania:

Vilnius (VNO) – Full implementation.

Kaunas (KUN) – Full implementation.

🇲🇹 Malta:

Malta International Airport (MLA) – Full implementation.

🇲🇪 Montenegro:

Podgorica (TGD) – Full implementation.

Kraków (KRK) – Full implementation.

Lublin (LUZ) – Full implementation.

Poznań (POZ) – Full implementation.

Birmingham (BHX) – Full implementation.

London City (LCY) – Full implementation

What This Means for Travellers

You can bring your full-size toiletries and water bottles — no need for 100ml containers.

Laptops, tablets, and cameras can stay inside your bag.

Expect shorter queues and smoother security checks .

💡 Important: The rule only applies at airports equipped with the new scanners. On routes where the destination airport still uses old equipment, the 100ml rule may still apply on your return flight.

The Future of Airport Security in Europe

The European Union aims to equip all major airports with new C3 scanners by 2026 , meaning the 100ml liquid rule will soon be history across most of Europe.
