401(k) Monitor: Your Employer's Real 401(k) Match
Nothing by that name. The box matches an employer from the start of its name, so try the first word of that name on its own, with nothing else in the box. Filings carry the legal name rather than the name on the door, so try that one too. A plan with fewer than 100 participants files a short form the DOL does not publish and is not in the source data at all. You can also browse by state or by industry.Left a 401(k) at an old job? Will you find your match formula?
The formula itself is on file for 219 of the 56,422 employers, the ones that file an SEC Form 11-K. Here is what each kind of page can say.
For any plan on file: what the employer put in per active participant, what the plan cost per participant, where both sit among plans of the same size, who keeps the records, and a link to the filing itself.
For the 219 employers read from an 11-K: the match as an action, “contribute at least 5% to collect the full 4% match”, computed from the filed formula, plus the vesting schedule and auto-enrollment, each with the filing sentence quoted.
When the filing does not say: the page says so plainly and states which line of which schedule is missing.
