Ukraine’s campaign targeting Wildberries has destroyed all of the Russian e-commerce giant’s major warehouses and roughly one-third of its total warehouse capacity, according to estimates cited by Forbes on August 13.
Direct losses suffered by Wildberries from the destruction of its logistics infrastructure had reached 147–223 billion rubles (around $1.75–$2.66 billion) by mid-August, Data Insight lead analyst Sergey Semko estimated for Forbes. Including the costs of dismantling damaged structures, removing debris, and restoring the affected sites, the losses could rise to 278 billion rubles (approximately $3.32 billion).
We bring you stories from the ground. Semko estimated that merchandise destroyed in the attacks was worth between 445 billion (about $5.31 billion) and 507 billion rubles (nearly $6.1 billion), putting the combined losses for the company and its sellers at around 800 billion rubles (almost $10 billion).
Margaret Evstigneeva, head of the Association of Suppliers of Goods for E-Commerce Platforms, placed the losses incurred by sellers even higher, estimating them at 600–700 billion rubles ($7.16–$8.35 billion). Combined with Wildberries’ losses, the total damage could therefore approach 1 trillion rubles (around $11.9 billion).

“Many lost up to 95% of all their goods. At the same time, Wildberries considers itself the affected party and paid small sellers an average of 2,000–30,000 rubles, which covered less than 20% of their losses,” Evstigneeva said.
Just a week earlier, Ukrainian long-range Liutyi strike drones targeted a Wildberries logistics facility in Yekaterinburg, Russia’s Sverdlovsk region, traveling more than 1,700 kilometers before reaching the site.
Footage from the site showed multiple fires burning beneath the roof of the large warehouse complex. Wildberries later confirmed that its logistics facility had come under attack and that a fire had broken out.
Discuss this article:
