Exploring the Universe, one brick at a time<br>Hubble Telescope Image<br>"Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known." – Carl Sagan<br>Launched in 1990 aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery, the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) revolutionized our understanding of the cosmos. Orbiting Earth at about 547 kilometers (340 miles), Hubble avoids atmospheric distortion, delivering crystal-clear images of distant galaxies, nebulae, and stars. Its most iconic features include a 2.4-meter (7.9-foot) primary mirror, solar panels for power, and advanced scientific instruments like the Wide Field Camera and spectrographs.<br>Hubble’s discoveries are legendary: it measured the universe’s expansion rate, captured the breathtaking "Pillars of Creation", and provided evidence for supermassive black holes. Despite early mirror flaws—corrected in a daring 1993 repair mission—Hubble became one of NASA’s greatest successes, operating for over 30 years.
