Hello everyone,
The first (and hopefully only) release candidate for Emacs 31.1, the<br>extensible text editor, is now available at:
https://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/emacs/pretest/emacs-31.1-rc1.tar.xz
The tarball is signed; you can get the PGP signature file at:
https://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/emacs/pretest/emacs-31.1-rc1.tar.xz.sig
Please give it as much testing as you can.
As always, if you encounter problems building or using Emacs,<br>send a report to bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org with full details<br>(if possible, use M-x report-emacs-bug).

To verify that the tarball is intact, download both the .sig and<br>the tarball, and run this command:
gpg --verify emacs-31.1-rc1.tar.xz.sig
If that command fails because you don't have the required public key,<br>run this command to import it:
gpg --keyserver keyring.debian.org --recv-keys \<br>8DC2487E51ABDD90B5C4753F0F56D0553B6D411B
You can also run sha256sum or sha512sum and confirm that these checksums<br>match:
SHA256 emacs-31.1-rc1.tar.xz<br>370b2e5443091bbe71c0e7c02c3b80a7cded52cd72c99bb30540334f2ae4bcf9
SHA512 emacs-31.1-rc1.tar.xz<br>4e5954582480de3b6907b56ba13e37eb0e65513ac2a96daf4c0e9e60feeda47c43326108b96f5c0ae369917a688204f6ad77c1eabcdb074c5049542e6f9aa4b2
