Framework Laptop 16 With GeForce RTX 5070 12GB, One-Piece Keyboard & Haptic Touchpad

While the past few weeks have been quite busy with the new Framework Laptop 13 Pro testing with that all-new laptop model and paired with Intel's Core Ultra Series 3 "Panther Lake", at the same time Framework Computer has begun shipping some updated components for the Framework Laptop 16 laptop. If looking for a bit more GPU compute power hor larger form factor than the 13-inch model, the Framework Laptop 16 can now be equipped with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 GPU as well as a haptic touchpad and one-piece keyboard for improving the input experience.

Back at the April event for Framework Computer, the GeForce RTX 5070 12GB laptop GPU module option was announced for the Framework 16 as a new graphics option for those desiring better gaming performance or wanting to leverage a NVIDIA GPU for CUDA/AI. From the laptop firmware, one can opt for NVIDIA-only graphics, hybrid with the Radeon 890M graphics remaining available, or NVIDIA Advanced Optimus modes.

On the input side, Framework 16 now has one-piece touchpad and keyboard options available for those not wanting to use spacers or other side accessories. The Framework Laptop 16 One Piece Touchpad Module is a full-width CNC aluminum palm-rest structure with a 124 x 77 mm haptic touch surface. The touch area is centered in the middle of the laptop. This one-piece touchpad module is priced at $129 USD though currently sold-out.

The one-piece keyboard similarly eliminates the need for side spacers, aluminum lattice keyboard deck, 1.5 mm key travel distance, and a toggleable white backlight. The keyboard runs on the open-source QMK firmware.

At Framework's 2026 event they also announced the Ryzen 5 340 option for the Framework Laptop 16 while this round of testing was still with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 flagship model for Strix Point.

In my testing of these new Framework Laptop 16 components the past few weeks, they have been working out very well. As we have come to expect from Framework Computer, the new hardware works out great on modern Linux distributions. With Fedora Workstation 44 and Ubuntu 26.04 LTS where most of my testing has been the past few weeks, it's been a wonderful experience with the new components "just working" fine out-of-the-box.
