Visual editing

Post-syntax Markdown

Open any Markdown document and edit it visually—without a preview pane or compilation step.
Dinkus supports all of Markdown's syntax: inline styles, headers, code blocks, images, tables, footnotes, and more.

Enjoy a distraction-free editing experience.

Typewriter mode

Focus modes

Source editor

Raw Markdown when you need it

Switch to the source view with a click or edit the source side-by-side.
Return to visual mode when you are done to continue editing where you left off.

However you choose to edit, the document is saved as standard Markdown and works everywhere.

Images

Tune your images

Add local images to your document or reference them via a URL with an intuitive image dialog.
No need to remember the image syntax or check if you got the path correct.

Dinkus will generate standard Markdown markup from images wherever possible, but can also output an for additional features.
For instance you can float images right in Dinkus, a feature not supported in plain Markdown.

Tables

Easy edit tables

Dinkus's table editor makes tables straightforward.
Add or remove columns or rows and edit cells visually (Markdown supports images and inline syntax in cells).

As always, you can drop into source mode and edit raw Markdown.
Dinkus will even format and extend the column by adding spaces to keep your table source nice and tidy.

Syntax highlighting

Work with code

Add syntax highlighted code blocks for common languages—and many uncommon ones.
Perfect for blogging about code, writing documentation, or sharing with an agent.

Front matter

Edit your meta data

Many static site generators use front-matter to add meta information like the title, description, publish date etc.
Dinkus can read, write, and edit all the formats in common use today.

Naturally front-matter is nicely syntax highlighted.
You wouldn't expect any less from Dinkus.

Typewriter mode

Keep your eye on the line

Typewriter mode keeps the caret anchored on a single horizontal line by moving the document vertically rather than the caret itself.
This feature reduces the cognitive burden of locating your caret in a wall of text.
No more scanning the window to find where you were just editing.

Another benefit of typewriter mode is that you always have a fixed amount of context surrounding the caret.
You don't need to scroll the document to see the text you just wrote.

In Dinkus you can drag the insertion guide away from the center of the screen, so you have more context above the caret while leaving a few lines for editing below the caret.

Focus modes

One sentence at a time

Dinkus can highlight the sentence or paragraph you are working on and dim the rest of the document.

Focus modes remove distractions from your visual field and makes it easier to track the text you are editing.
Pair focus with typewriter mode and you have a distraction-free writing experience that genuinely makes you more productive.

Markdown all the way

Typewriter and focus modes, visual editing, local files.
